Schools and Daycare
Juniper West is a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive to Juniper Elementary School and a 5 minute car trip down Highland Drive to Marion Schilling Elementary. A new daycare for the community, Juniper Early Learning Centre, at #2-2049 Highland Place, was opened in 2016 and offers toddler, preschool and after school programs that follow the Montessori philosophy. The neighbourhood of Juniper also has a number of licensed home daycares.
Juniper Dog Park
Juniper Dog Park is one of the largest dog parks in Kamloops and a 5-minute walk from Juniper West. It’s a safe and convenient location to let your furry family members burn off excess energy and meet other Juniper residents.
Kamloops Farmer’s Market
April through October the Kamloops Farmer’s Market operates from two locations, Wednesdays and Saturdays in downtown Kamloops, less than 10 minutes from Juniper West. It’s a perfect place to grab a coffee, load up on fresh and local fruits and vegetables and go for a stroll.
Kamloops is known as Canada’s most diverse golf destination. The season extends from March into October with more than 13 remarkable courses to choose from. Sun Rivers Golf Course and Pineridge Golf Course are 10 minute drives away, and within 25 minutes you can be at Rivershore Golf Course and The Dunes.
Kamloops Bike Ranch
The Kamloops Bike Ranch is a world-class mountain biking facility. The 26 hectare park features downhill trails and cross-country trails. The Bike Ranch is located right beside Juniper West.
The Kamloops Wine Trail is BC’s newest wine experience and showcases four unique and diverse wineries nestled along the North and South Thompson Rivers. Harper’s Trail Winery, Sagewood Winery and Monte Creek Winery are all less than 25 minutes away from Juniper West on Highway 1 east. North of Juniper West, on Westsyde Road, you can be at Privato Winery in 30 minutes.
Kamloops is known for its recreation opportunities year-round and Sun Peaks Resort, considered one of the best ski resorts in Canada, is about a 45 minute drive from Juniper West. Sun Peaks offers incredible access to cross-country skiing, downhill skiing and snowboarding in the winter and hiking, golfing and mountain biking in the summer. There is also Harper Mountain, about a 25 minute drive from Juniper West, which is well known for its family friendly atmosphere and terrain that is accommodating to all levels of skiers and boarders. Just south of the City and about a 20 minute drive from Juniper West are the Stake Lake Trails that offer 60 km of “scenic, expertly groomed skate and classic trails.”
